Uzbekistan oldest cities such as Bukhara, Samarkand, Khiva and Tashkent were parts of the ancient Silk Road, the trading route between China and the West. The country has well preserved a heritage of unique relics reflecting the powerful Persian empire followed by the reign of Alexander the Great, Ghengis Khan and Tamerlane. Today Uzbekistan is one of the five independent Republics in Central Asia.
